Interpreting today’s forecasts

The 7-day snow forecast looking primo for a classic Canterbury SE dump Sun-Tue.  But… forecasts have been highly variable for that far out for the last few days.  We have the intriguing prospect of a Low in the Tasman Sea brushing shoulders with a High south of Tasmania.  How these contrary systems are forecast to interact has changed substantially over the last couple of days.  We can expect the forecasts to change again.
